We are here for
every body.
Those living with a disability
Body Place is a registered provider for the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS). All of our Exercise Physiologists are registered with the NDIS and accredited through Exercise and Sports Science Australia to provide services under the Improved Health and Well-being section for those with a permanent disability, where that disability impacts on the ability to perform daily activities.
We support individuals living with a range of disabilities with the ultimate goal of improving one’s quality of life and function to promote greater independence. As such, our EP’s work closely with all members of an individuals care team to ensure that the exercise plan is in-line with achieving the NDIS plan’s goals.
If you are an NDIS participant with an approved plan, you can book an initial consultation with us via the button below.
Chronic Disease management
Exercise Physiologists support people with a range of conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, osteoporosis, high blood pressure, heart disease, asthma, mental health problems, cancer, arthritis and more.
Individuals receive an exercise plan unique to their needs, designed to address the symptoms of the chronic condition, improve physical function and enhance overall quality of life. EP’s can also provide guidance on lifestyle modifications such as diet and stress management, which can complement the exercise program and further support the management of the chronic condition.
As the individual progresses, exercise physiologists monitor progress and adjust the exercise plan as needed to ensure safety and continued improvement. Our team is passionate about movement being an accessible therapy for every body and accept medicare rebates and all major health funds.
Injury rehabilitation
Exercise physiologists can help you recover from injury by designing individualised exercise programs that focus on rehabilitation, strengthening, and injury prevention.
After a thorough assessment of your medical history and current condition, an EP will create a program focused on targeted exercises to rebuild strength, flexibility, and mobility in the injured area. They can also provide guidance on how to modify movements and activities to prevent re-injury.
EP’s can use their knowledge of anatomy, biomechanics, and physiology to identify any underlying imbalances or weaknesses that may have contributed to the injury. They can then address these issues through targeted exercises to prevent future injuries.
Common injuries that EP’s rehabilitate include but are not limited to:
Musculoskeletal injuries such as sprains, strains, and fractures
Joint injuries such as tendinitis and bursitis
Lower Back pain and the strengthening of muscles to alleviate and reduce the pain.
Pre and postpartum
With Angela and Jacquii, the co-founders of Body Place, having recently experienced the challenges of pre and postpartum life, they are dedicated to supporting expectant and new mothers to establish and maintain a consistent exercise routine throughout this transformative period.
The benefits of regular exercise for both the mother and baby are many. During pregnancy, Exercise Physiologists may focus on maintaining healthy weight gain, reducing the risk of gestational diabetes and improving cardiovascular health to support the pregnancy. After childbirth, the emphasis shifts to rehabilitating the pelvic floor and abdominal muscles as well as improving posture by strengthening the muscles that assist with breastfeeding and baby wearing.
Regardless of the stage in the pre or postpartum journey, as the body changes, our EPs will continually review the plan to accommodate your personal preferences, fitness level and goals. Note, all sessions are baby-friendly.
